We are looking for an experienced developer to assist in setting up the Forem open-source community platform on DigitalOcean. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Ruby on Rails, be comfortable with server provisioning, and be able to guide us through the deployment process with clear, step-by-step instructions.

This role also includes ongoing support for configuration, optimization, and maintenance of the Forem script post-deployment.

Responsibilities

• Set up and deploy the Forem open-source platform on DigitalOcean (Droplet or App Platform).
• Provide detailed setup instructions or documentation.
• Assist in configuring environment variables, SSL, email, database, Redis, etc.
• Troubleshoot setup issues and bugs during deployment.
• Provide continued support for future configuration changes and feature integrations.

Requirements

• Proven experience with Forem (or similar Ruby on Rails-based projects).
• Strong knowledge of Ruby on Rails, PostgreSQL, Redis, and Linux server environments.
• Familiarity with DigitalOcean (Droplets, App Platform, Networking).
• Ability to provide clear documentation and future support.
• Good communication and responsiveness.

Nice to Have

• Experience with Docker and GitHub Actions (as used by Forem).
• Familiarity with configuring Forem add-ons or plugins.
